Game Reports:
Reapers vs Razorbacks
The Playoffs first game saw the second seed Reapers take on the third seed Razorbacks, splitting the series during the regular season this game was sure to be close.
The Reapers started the game on offense and drove the ball down the field with a long drive which resulted in a touchdown pass from Si King to Sam Barrell, who again connect on the extra point to put the Reapers up 7-0.
The Razorbacks first drive was one they hoped to forget in a hurry as bobbled pass from Dan Guilbert intended for James Williams was intercepted by Si who was standing in at corner for the missing Johan Pols.
The Reapers capitalised and added to their score with a nice pass From Si to Dan Le Cheminant, the extra point was well defended by Marcus Lewis who made an interception on the play.
Razorbacks finally got things going after a slow start with a touchdown pass from Dan to Rob Williams, with James converting on the extra point to move the score to 13-7.
The first half finished which an outstanding play from Sam , picking off Dan’s pass and taking it all the way to the house taking the score up to 19-7 at the half.
The second half was all about defense, which both teams stopping one another on their opening possessions, with Sam adding another interception to his stat sheet.
The Razorbacks finally broke through with a long play from James which went the distance after some rare missed tackles from Si and Sam.
The Reapers held strong with some cracking defense to hold off the Razorbacks for the rest of the game holding on 19-14 to book their place in the final.
A well played game by both teams, showing the league that it’s not all about scoring points, and playing some sound defense can also be just exciting as a shoot out!
Knights vs Raptors
The second game of the playoffs saw the first seed Knights face off against fourth seed Raptors. Despite the Knights only falling to the Reapers in overtime with Matt Jackson behind the helm, this game would see the much awaited returned of Jordan Gallienne to the starting QB position that played like he had something to prove!
The Knights roster returning to strength at the right time compared to the Raptors who would come into the game missing a number of key players.
On the first drive of the game the Raptors defence would stand strong and ensure the Knights would not get off to an early lead. Luke Pattimore making another start at QB showed teams that he is a future starting QB in this league. He drove down the field and capitalised on a touchdown pass to Matthew Kershaw. He would then also get the extra point with an excellent pass which was met by an equally spectacular catch from Luke Rabey.
The Knights would dominate the rest of the game with 7 passing touchdowns spread throughout the team and a solid performance once again from the top defence in the league who would only allow 1 further score the entire game.
The Knights go on to the bowl game with a 45 – 13 win and will meet the Reapers for the third time this season. The Knights have fallen just short on both previous occasions and will be looking to rectify that here.
