Game Reports:
Reapers vs Raptors
First game of the week saw the Reapers take on the Raptors in what would prove to be a very warm day.
In what would really be a tale of two halves, the Reapers came out strong in the first half with Johan Pols forcing an early interception, with Dan Le Cheminant running the ball in for a rushing touchdown following the turnover. Johan would also score an additional touchdown in the first half.
The second half would prove to be a lot more even. The Reapers would score again, through Nick Schofield and to anyone watching, the game would look over. However that would not be the case.
Matt Banton would find himself the lucky recipient of a bobbled pass to force the turnover, giving the Raptors the spark they needed. Luke Rabey would almost seem to put the team on shoulders, first hauling in a great touchdown reception, then the two point conversion and finally to top it off, an interception for a touchdown.
Craig Batiste would force a sack in the endzone for the Reapers giving them an extra two points on the safety. James Alderton, continuing his recent effort on defense hauled in another interception for the Raptors, giving them the chance to chase the tie on the final possession.
The Reapers defense was able to hold on with the final score 22 – 14 to the Reapers.
Terrapins vs Mustangs
Terrapins vs Mustangs The second game of Week 4 saw the Terrapins face the Mustangs. The Terrapins began well with an interception from safety Nick Gaudion, on the first throw of the game. This turnover resulted in a touchdown by Callum Hockey giving the Terrapins an early lead. The Mustangs were not disheartened, however, with Tim Skillet and Matt Skillet securing two touchdowns before half time, allowing the Mustangs to proceed into the second half with a lead of 12-6.
The second half saw scoring opportunities for both teams, with the Terrapins adding 4 more touchdowns, including one pick-6, to their score from a variety of offensive players, as well as Matt Skillet taking the Mustangs up to 18 points with his second touchdown, following quickly by a 2 point conversion. The match was a well fought battle on both sides, in very hot weather conditions, but the Terrapins managed to secure the win with a final score of 30-20.
Razorbacks vs Knights
This week’s matchup would see the top two teams going into the week face off. Both teams 2-1 however the Razorbacks boasting the advantage on points difference over the Knights. Both teams excelling on offence, this game would come down to the defence that stepped up on the day.
The Knights coming off a tough loss last week would once again rally behind offensive leader Jordan Gallienne and show that they are still a force to be reckoned with. Touchdowns spread throughout the team again making it difficult for opposing defensives to focus on taking anything away.
The Razorbacks utilising the speedy receiving duo of James and Rob Williams would cause the Knights the most issues. Lasts years Offensive MVP James Williams produced a game that can now only be expected, pulling in 2 TD’s as well as playing outstandingly on defence.
The Knights defence would make the difference in this game. Despite missing their starting Line backer and rusher Jamie Jenner, Matthew Jackson would step into the position and pressure Razorback quarterback Dan Guilbert all day, making it hard for the Razorbacks offence to get into any kind of rhythm.
Great game ending 32-18 to the Knights.
